Michelle johnson
Michelle started her gymnastics career at the age of 2. She grew up in West Linn, Oregon where she continued her gymnastics for 14 years, with 5 years of dance while in gymnastics at Westside Dance Academy. She was a level nine gymnast and had the privilege of being a 3-time regional qualifier. Michelle then transitioned into competitive all-star cheerleading that advanced to the national championships in Florida for 2 consecutive years. Due to injuries, Michelle was not able to fulfill her dream of attending Oregon State University or University of Nebraska-Lincoln for either gymnastics or cheerleading.
Michelle joined the former Rock Springs Gymnastics program as a team coach in 2013. Through education and dedication, she advanced to the team director and head coach of the RSG competitive team, where she has helped athletes qualify for Level 7 regionals, Xcel Platinum regionals and Xcel Gold regionals. Michelle has several USA memberships such as competitive coach, meet director, owner/managing director along with certifications in safety and risk management, fundamentals of gymnastics instruction, tough coaching or emotional abuse and safe sport trained.
Michelle believes in progressions, technique and safety for athletes. She loves teaching kids, watching how they improve their skills, overcoming their fears, building strength, improve coordination and having fun!
When Michelle is not coaching gymnastics, tumbling and or judging (soon to be), she enjoys traveling with her husband around the world and working with her dogs during hunting season. Michelle’s favorite activity outside is working in the back yard and taking care of the wonderful grass that takes her back to her childhood memories in Oregon.
